It was so exciting to host the first concert ever at The Corner Auditorium. The Christmas Benefit Youth Unity Concert was held Friday, December 9 and was attended by approximately 175 people. The celebration featured youth from Muskegon, Muskegon Heights, Reeths-Puffer, Mona Shores, Grand Haven, Grand Haven Christian, and Spring Lake schools. There were choral groups, dancing, instrumentals, and singing along to the accompaniment of the historic organ in The Corner Auditorium.
The Christmas Concert benefited Mission for Area People, Pathfinders, and Supper House.
It was a beautiful sight to see our God-vision of this newly purposed old building come to fruition as many young people were given a place, a platform, and an opportunity to express themselves through the arts.
We still have an accessibility problem at The Corner, but we were able to share the concert with those not able to negotiate the stairs through video projection to the lower level. This has actually led to our 11:11 a.m. Sunday alternative worship services also being held in the auditorium with live projection to the lower.
Thank you to Melody Schneider for her vision and leadership to make this happen. Thanks also, to several others who worked feverishly to make the technology happen, clean the auditorium so it would look presentable, and help host this successful, ground-breaking event. Of course, thank you to the dozens of youth who shared their talent and their smiles.
