A Light Along the Lake Shore image

You have gifts!

The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets,
some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for
the work of ministry, for building up the Body of Christ.
                                                                                      ~Ephesians 4:11-12

The Sunday School teacher asked the little boy, “Do you know what a saint is?” He answered, “A saint is someone who the light shines through!” While he may have been inspired by the saints in the stained glass windows, that boy expressed a deep truth about the relationship between God and God’s people. When we are baptized, God gives gifts that allow Christ’s light to come into the world through us. Central’s Gifts Ministry helps turn that light on.

Participation in Central’s Gifts Ministry follows these simple steps:

Light 4
Light 6
Light 5

Gifts Discovery
Three simple and fun profiles are done in an afternoon group setting. What are your gifts? What color are you? What is your personality type? If you want to find out the answers to these questions, join us for the next Gifts Discovery, Fall 2008.

Gifts Discernment
Once the discovery process is completed, our Senior Pastor, the Rev. Randall Hansen, joins you for a personal look at your gifts profile. This is a time for getting in touch with the light within you.

Gifts Development
Once your gifts and passions for ministry are claimed, Central’s Connecting Team helps link you with opportunities for exercising your faith.

The United Methodist approach to Gifts Ministry was developed by Dan Dick. He says this: “Everyone’s gifts knit together to be the church. The church is not the next best thing to Jesus Christ, but it is Jesus Christ--alive and active in the world.” Gifts Discovery strengthens us in our efforts to be A Light Along the Lake Shore.
