Dear Friends,
We welcome you to the web site of Central United Methodist Church of Muskegon, MI.
Our congregation traces its roots back to 1843, when the first Methodist service was held in Martin Ryerson’s boarding house.
In its early years, the congregation was served by itinerant preachers, among them Deacon Abner Bennett, a former slave, who walked from White Lake once a month to preach the Sunday service.
Our building, with its Gothic-style architecture, was dedicated in 1930. The sanctuary boasts a Moeller pipe organ and magnificent stained glass windows.
The congregation consists of young and old, professionals and laborers retired and actively employed, life-long United Methodists and folks who have come to us from other denominations as well as no previous church experience.
Our rich diversity finds its unity in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We hope you will check us out, not only on the web, but in person.
Blessings on you.
In Christ,
Rev. Dr. Randall R. Hansen Senior Pastor
