Safe and Secure
When it comes to ministry with children their physical safety is as important to us as the care of their souls. We make every effort to assure that children are safe at all times when in the Church’s care. Central has long had a Child Protection Policy. It is being compared with that of other churches and agencies so it can be kept current.
There are many actions that are are put of such a careful approach. We have two unrelated persons working with children at all times. Certain church doors near the nursery are locked to the outside to block access to strangers. In Doug Schramm we have a conscientious security person who is always on duty Sunday mornings and when the church is open after office hours. We have done background checks on all staff and volunteers who work with children. When we have overnights with youth we have counselors of both sexes present. We have made our nursery peanut free and we ask all parents to notify us of the allergies and health issues of their children.
When parents first bring a child to the nursery they are asked to fill out an information form listing possible allergies and the name of that person or persons who are authorized to pick the child up from the nursery. Parents are also invited to sign out a pager so they can be called to the nursery if needed. The pagers are to be returned after each use.
Children are precious to God, to their families and to Central Church. When your child, grandchild or your child’s friend is at Central Church you can rest easy knowing that we are watchful.
