Central UMC celebrates 151 years of presence in downtown Muskegon. While the church has stood at three difference locations—on the present site since 1929—Central has consistently been, “A Light Along the Shore.” Our mission statement affirms…

Central United Methodist Church is a “light along the shore,”  seeking to connect God’s love with human need. Based on our faith in Jesus Christ, our mission is to enable that connection through lively and relevant worship, a comprehensive program of Christian Education, a compassionate and invitational community life, along with missional outreach to our neighborhood and God’s world.

A Port City and a light that shines for Jesus Christ. This congregation of 400 persons takes seriously the words in Ephesians: “Live as children of the light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:8-9)

What do we believe? At the heart of our faith is the Living God, the     Three-in-One, who makes us, redeems us and sustains us. The Living God calls us, as followers of Christ’s Light, to:
